The "customs" that define characters on the battlefield. We have had some massive headaches in the past over this topic. On almost ever site we've made have always had a separate area for where we handled these but I suggest on this site we do all character related approving in one board and just sort out things once approved to different boards. I feel like this will make everything much easier.
I would like to define the terms we are using just so that if ever there is someone who has a question on what we consider them to be we can easily answer them or find the answer to them. This is how I would define them, how we can define them as a group can be discussed in this thread.
ITEMS: Obviously not things that are sharp or pointy, these are objects like mirrors, masks, ribbons or anything else that might be special to the character, they should be things that are kept on their person frequently and not things that would be too large or awkward to carry around. Like a couch. Most likely members will want items to have 'magic properties' and that is fine, I believe that those properties should however be approved under 'spells'. An item is easy to say, yes you can have that, a spell is not. If a person wants an item for their character they simply list it in their inventory on their character application and they have it. If they want that item to have a magic property they need to name the spell that gives it that magic property and possibly follow guidelines for spells depending on the nature of the request.
WEAPONS: Sharp pointy things or heavy things used to smash other things. Again players will want an item to have an amazing power and again those powers would be handled as spells. In regards to weapons we should strictly enforce common sense. No character no matter how strong should be toting around a whole armory. If a character 'summons' weapons there should be a limit to how many they can have out and usable at one point in time.
**for both weapons and items it is important for members to give a short description of the tool**
SKILLS: These are traits and techniques that DO NOT REQUIRE MAGIC and as such would be the most common type of 'ability' for all characters. Rapid movement, enhanced senses, strength, durability, swordplay, these are all skills and not spells. Skills should be easier to obtain and use, the trade off, they should not be extremely over the top ridiculous. Upgraded skills of course would get stronger but again, they should not reach super human levels.
SPELLS: This is where our members really and truly get to flex their creative muscles. Spells are the things that REQUIRE MAGIC and produce effects that are not normal. Fireballs, super human strength, blinding speeds, illusions, barriers, healing spells. These all take magic and are spells. Spells should be closely monitored and should fall within standard ranges of each other. It would not be fair to approve a low level healing spell for one person that has the same effects as a high level, multiple upgraded healing spell of another person.
As far as templates go for how we want things to look I believe simple is best.

SPELL NAME RANK - S,A,B,C,D,E? Short description of appearance Effects it may produce on others COOL DOWN (DURATION / DOWN)
**If a item or weapon has a spell attacked to it then it should look like this**
