AN OVERVIEW OF THE STRUCTURE OF MAGIC

In the world of Fantasia Magic is broken down into five parent classifications; Elemental, Natural, Light, Dark and Effect. These parent classes are simply a generalization of what scholars and sorcerers alike have deemed known magics to fall under. With in each parent classification there are sub categories for which magic is further defined. While the method or process of which the magic is preformed may vary those who would be considered experts on the magical arts widely accept said classifications. However it is also commonly known by those who practice the magical arts that it is possible to combine different magics to create new and vastly different results. It is however most common that a spell caster will excel at magic from one pool or parent class as each individual, magician or otherwise, has a elemental affinity that strongly effects their strength in one area of magic over another. These affinities are known as Wind, Water, Fire, Earth, Lightning, Light, and Dark. Depending on what affinity one is aligned with they may find it harder to control or deal with another pool of magic. Effect magic is that which is a balance of all the elements, which is the natural state of magic, and thus is the simplest and most common type of magic. The source of magic, unlike the classifications, is heatedly debated over as different sects believe in different origins by which magic is made possible. These sects in turn produce and execute their magic by vastly different means. While they may disagree on the source each sect strongly believes that the possibilities are nigh limitless when it comes to magic.
- Wind based magic the control, creation or manipulation of wind.
- Fire based magic the control, creation or manipulation of fire.
- Water based magic the control, creation or manipulation of water.
- Earth based magic the control, creation or manipulation of earth.
- Lightning based magic the control, creation or manipulation of lightning.
NATURE
- Plant based magic the control or manipulation of plants.
- Animal based magic the control or manipulation of animals.
- Paradoxical based magic things that bend the laws of nature.
- Transformation based magic transforming the user or parts of the user to give plant or animal like attributes in order to gain new abilities.
- Transfiguration based magic transforming items into plant or animal like anima/animus.
LIGHT
- Energy based magic explosive raw energy.
- Force based magic malleable and controllable energy that takes on physical traits.
- Healing based magic magic that repairs tissue or items and/or purges curses or other ill effects.
- Light Elemental based magic light magic in an elemental form that takes on different attributes than normal elemental magic.
- Blessing based magic boons that can be cast on the caster, other characters or items to grant a certain attribute or ability.
DARK
- Energy based magic explosive raw energy.
- Force based magic malleable and controllable energy that takes on physical traits.
- Regeneration based magic the restoration of the user's body and/or breaks curses or other ill effects set upon the user.
- Dark Elemental based magic dark magic in an elemental form that takes on different attributes than normal elemental magic.
- Curse based magic afflictions that can be cast on other characters or items that cause ill effects or unwanted limitations.
EFFECT
- Blessing based magic boons that can be cast on the caster, other characters or items to grant a certain attribute or ability.
- Curse based magic afflictions that can be cast on other characters or items that cause ill effects or unwanted limitations.
- Alchemy based magic the transformation or distortion of an item to create another item.
- Imbuement based magic Like blessings or curses but only affects items and are permanent and nigh unbreakable.
- Anima/Animus based magic the control and manipulation of items, organic or inorganic does not work on living things
